The TROPS Agricultural Transformation Society has acquired the Bicoca de Nules's former orange warehouse. The Andalusian company expects this property to resume activities in 2025.
The company's director general, Víctor Luque, and the president, José Linares, shared the news with the mayor of Nules, David García, during a visit to the municipality of Nules.
According to Trops, the main goal of this acquisition is to be close to farmers. The company plans to convert the property into a collection and attention center to facilitate direct contact with farmers and the reception of their avocados, so they don't have to travel to the company's headquarters in Vélez (Malaga). It should be noted that this Andalusian company specializes in the production and marketing of avocado and mango, mainly.
"This is very important news for our town because it will mean the creation of new jobs, in addition to the investment that Trops will make in our town, which will be part of its logistics centers in Spain," stated David García, the mayor of Nules.
The service center to be installed in Nules will be similar to others that Trops already has in Spain and Portugal. It currently has 4,000 associated growers and its fruit is present in more than 25 countries.
Trops controls all of its products' stages, from cultivation in the field, harvesting, product quality, ripening, and packaging, to marketing and distribution.
The company was founded in 1979 in Vélez (Málaga). Its main production area is concentrated in the south of the peninsula, mainly in the Axarquía region of Málaga and on the tropical coast of Granada. It also grows food on the coast of the Valencian Community, in the Portuguese Algarve, and even in South America in countries such as Peru and Chile.
