To achieve hyper-specialisation in a sector, considerable resources must be invested. This is exactly what F.lli Candiano, based in Ispica (Sicily), has done. In partnership with Bulltec, the company has developed a technology dedicated exclusively to the cultivation of courgettes and cucumbers.
An Italian company specialising in the production and worldwide distribution of dark, white and striped courgettes, F.lli Candiano cultivates around 500 hectares of land.

Bulltec carried out a detailed analysis to identify a solution that would meet the specific requirements of the F.lli Candiano company. They proposed a processing plant with a sizing machine, an integrated product transport system on a belt and a pneumatic ejection mechanism, capable of selecting up to five products per second per row.
The technology is patented by Bulltec, and thanks to the transversal orientation and the installation of a conveyor belt designed specifically for the task, processing capacities ranging from 5 to 6 tonnes/hour can be achieved with efficiency.
Andrea Candiano, head of the agro-technical department: "The Bulltec processing line allows us to leverage the excellent work done in the field, from seed selection to harvesting. The product was tested after processing and the results were positive. The product is handled very gently and no marks are left on the vegetables."

The Bulltec-designed wide belt sander for F.lli Candiano has been actively in use for several months now. In line with the Cesena-based company's philosophy, this machine also prioritises ease of use and efficiency. The absence of buckets ensures a smooth processing cycle, reducing the risk of mechanical failures, which are common in bucket machines, and simultaneously minimising the need for and complexity of maintenance and replacement of component parts. Furthermore, Bulltec owner Ruggero Ricci points out that the machine has two rows, in line with customer requirements, and has a gauge capacity of 5-6 tonnes per hour.
Ricci also offers his thoughts on the recent exhibition in Catania. "We just returned from the Frutech fair, where we met with several industry specialists. Sicily is the largest Italian region for horticulture, and we are also present with an efficient service network. Our technologies for sorting and guaranteed weight, which we can tailor to suit customer needs, are ideal for medium-sized companies, which are a significant feature of the Sicilian business landscape," he says.
