The new Roki rootstock will be the novelty for kiwi plants

"As 2024 draws to a close - a year that has given us a great deal of satisfaction here in Italy - we are getting ready for the next season. First of all with deliveries of bare-root plants, and then, starting from spring, with plants in pots. The Italian nursery Vivai Magalotti Quarto will be offering plants with the new Roki rootstock (Rootstock Kiwifruit Project) for 2025," say Corrado Arigliani and Daniela Magalotti.

"This is a novelty," they add, "which has given excellent results during all the years of trials. So far, this rootstock has proved to be adaptable to different soils. It is resistant even in soils affected by the so-called dieback, it has a grafting affinity with different kiwi varieties and it is vigorous."

"Roki develops a rich and deep rooting system. We think Roki has great potential; a cautious approach is a must, but everything seems to be in place to make this rootstock a success".

As Daniela Magalotti points out, "We put all our efforts into producing plants with added value. First of all, all our production comes from our micropropagation laboratory and from our mother plants, we grow the plants in sterile, sterilized substrates and the vast majority is grown above ground, but the most important thing is that we don't outsource the cultivation and management of our plants. The size of our company is calibrated according to our production capacity, which is why we can really talk about traceability: all of our plants are taken care of by us."

Società Magalotti Quarto e C.s.s., based in Cesenatico (Forlì - Cesena), is a nursery specializing in kiwi plants (Actinidia deliciosa and Actinidia chinensis). With more than 40 years of experience in the sector, the company stands out for the use of innovative techniques aimed at guaranteeing the maximum health and quality of the plants it offers to its customers.

Vivai Magalotti uses micropropagation, an in vitro cultivation technique that allows the production of high-quality cloned plants. This method ensures that the plants are free of pathogens and ready for rapid development after transplantation.
