North Ossetia and Belarus explore agricultural partnership in fruit and vegetable production

North Ossetia-Alania is exploring agricultural collaboration with Belarus, focusing on vegetable and fruit cultivation. Sergei Menyailo highlights that North Ossetia hosts Russia's largest asparagus farm, a crop once atypical for Russian agriculture. The region is also renewing its apple orchards, reviving viticulture, and cultivating blueberries. A regular potato growers' conference in the region attracts professionals from across Russia and internationally, including Canada.

There is potential for collaboration with Belarusian farmers, enterprises, and scientists in these areas. Aleksandr Yakovchits of Belgospishcheprom notes that the Malorita canning and vegetable processing plant sources apples for direct-pressed juices, while the Gorodeya sugar plant branch in Stolbtsy processes canned asparagus beans. Both enterprises are open to exploring cooperative opportunities.

Representatives from Belarus and North Ossetia emphasize a cooperative approach, aiming to complement rather than compete in the market by sharing goods and technologies.
