Analysts from the EastFruit project report a downturn in Ukraine's apple market activity. This trend emerges as producers, having lost hope for price increases, begin offloading apples from storage. Consequently, the market sees an influx of supply, compelling orchardists to adjust pricing strategies.
Current market figures indicate quality apples are priced between 22 to 30 UAH per kilogram ($0.53 to $0.72 per kilogram), reflecting a 12% decrease from the previous week's prices.
Despite this, apple prices remain 48% higher compared to the same period last year. Market operators anticipate potential further price reductions due to the deteriorating quality of stored apples and sustained low demand linked to elevated selling prices.
