NL Westland: horticultural area or 'conduit'?

Protest group 'Zeg NEE tegen uitbreiding ABC' (Say NO to ABC Expansion) is fighting against the expansion of business park ABC Westland in Poeldijk, at the expense of greenhouse land. On social media, people are questioning the role of import and export companies that no longer trade Westland products, but, for example, blueberries from Peru, which go elsewhere via the Netherlands.

"Is that what our beautiful horticultural municipality has become? A logistics hub for the storage and disposal of produce grown elsewhere?"

Westland's municipal council is proposing to adopt the amended zoning plan 'Business Park ABC De Strijp Poeldijk' on 19 March 2025. If the municipal council agrees, the zoning plan will be available for inspection for another six weeks.

Alderman Van Der Stee: "We have had several participation evenings and talks with residents, and in addition, views were submitted. We were able to adjust the plan on quite a few points to the wishes of the surrounding area."

In addition to criticism of land use, concerns were raised about traffic nuisance, greenery, and good logistics, among others.
