Amman market sees record prices for molokhia, okra, and zucchini

The Central Wholesale Market in Amman, Jordan, processed 2,449 tons of produce on Tuesday, consisting of 1,839 tons of vegetables, 412 tons of fruits, and 197 tons of leafy greens. Notable price hikes were observed, with okra at approximately $4.94 per kilogram, and fresh-cut molokhia at $12.72 to $14.13, reaching unprecedented levels.

As per the market's daily bulletin, other prices included black eggplant (21-35 cents), dry onions (21-28 cents), potatoes (28-42 cents), tomatoes (8-21 cents), carrots (35-49 cents), cucumbers (84 cents to $1.12), cauliflower (42-70 cents), lemons (28-56 cents), and local bananas (70 cents to $1.12).

While most produce prices remained stable, grape leaves, cauliflower, zucchini, and baby cucumbers remained expensive. Observers attribute this to increased demand during Ramadan and seasonal production factors. Despite fluctuations, Amman's central market continues to supply local markets, maintaining large shipments to satisfy consumer demand.
