U.S. apple storage down five percent from last year

According to a monthly survey, the total number of apples in storage on March 1, 2025, was 113 million bushels, five percent less than last March's total of 118 million bushels and 13 percent more than the five-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this March totaled 81 million bushels, four percent less than the inventories reported for last March. Processing holdings totaled 32 million bushels, seven percent less than last year on March 1.

This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity.
