Produce ads up 1% with key price changes

Total ad numbers this week were 301,638, a 1% increase from last week's total of 297,181. The total for the same week last year was 13% lower at 265,835. The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 152,037 (50%), onions and potatoes 23,457 (8%), vegetables 122,485 (41%), herbs 1,404, ornamentals 1,280, and hemp 2,379. The number of ads for organic produce was 38,982, 13% of the total ads.

The following are the prices of major advertised items (3,000 plus ads) this week compared to the same week last year. Significant increases in price for fruit this week included only apple juice (64 oz.) at 13%. Significant decreases included only white seedless grapes at 14%.

Significant changes in price for onions and potatoes this week included only a 31% increase for Russet potatoes (5 lb. bag). Significant increases in price for vegetables this week included only celery at 13%. Decreases included only Roma tomatoes at 15%.
