Who are the winners of the 3rd Générations Primeurs competition?

The final of the 3rd Générations Primeurs competition was held on March 24th, bringing together pairs of young starters and experienced greengrocers. The competition, organized by the Saveurs Commerce federation, took place at the Groisy Campus (Haute-Savoie), a work-linked training center in the food, catering, pharmaceutical, and floristry sectors.

5 hours of competition
A total of 7 teams competed, each pair forming an intergenerational duo, with a "young shoot" under the age of 30 with less than 5 years of experience and an "experienced" partner over the age of 30 with more than 10 years of experience. The 14 finalists had a total of 5 hours to present their artisanal vision of the fruit and vegetable offer, focusing on the values that define an artisan: authenticity, sharing, and tradition. The 5 hours were divided into 2 parts: the practical "presentation of a commercial universe" (4h30) and the oral presentation (30 min).

The finalists had the morning to peel, cut, slice, mix, press, cook, and season a variety of fruit and vegetables as specified by the organizers. Each pair had also brought their own selection of 5 fruits and vegetables, allowing them to add a more personal touch to their recipes.

Raising the profile of the greengrocer trade
Through this competition, the Saveurs Commerce federation hopes to offer an additional window of visibility to the profession, highlighting not only its expertise but also its creative and innovative spirit. After all, the greengrocer trade is still the only food trade not included in the list of craft trades. Since 2021, the federation has been involved in this recognition process. "Hosting the Générations Primeurs competition at the Campus is a way of raising the profile of training, both for the profession of greengrocer and for centers like ours," explains Arnaud Gobled, president of the Groisy Campus. In the future, the greengrocer profession will be essential to gastronomy, and we really need to promote it. It is a real craft skill, a real knowledge of products, and one that the Campus can pass on to all our food professions with the greengrocer CAP training program."

The 2026 edition of the Générations Primeurs competition will be held in Toulouse at the SMAHRT trade fair.
