China-ASEAN fruit hub processes over 5.7 million tons of produce

The China-ASEAN (Chongzuo) Fruit Trading Center in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has processed over 5,724,200 tons of agricultural produce, valued at $4.27 billion, since its inception. This center functions as a gateway for agricultural trade between China and Southeast Asia.

Located in the Pingxiang Industrial Park, the center spans 725 hectares and includes two zones: the Core Trading Area and the Processing Zone. The Core Trading Area handles auctions, e-commerce, and customs clearance for fresh fruits, while the Processing Zone focuses on frozen, dried, and packaged goods for domestic and export markets.

The facility, valued at $7.5 billion, has attracted over 60 Chinese agricultural enterprises and collaborates with Cold Chain Duoduo to digitize sales. Official data indicates that over 65,000 truckloads have been processed, with more than 689,400 transactions completed. The trading center handles over 40 varieties of ASEAN fruits, including durians, mangosteens, and longans.

Chongzuo, a border city in Guangxi, is a hub for nearly 40 types of ASEAN fruits exported to China, leading in the nationwide volume of imported ASEAN fruits. The hub's integrated customs system reduces clearance times using technologies like facial recognition and automated inspections.
