After a difficult citrus season due to bad weather in Spain and with less volume than usual at this time of year, the market is already eager to start with the first batches of stone fruit. The earliest varieties should arrive in just a few days.

"It has been a challenging orange and mandarin season," says Ignacio García, Managing Director of Glamfruits. "At the moment, in addition to Navel Powel oranges, we are still selling Orri mandarins, whose quality has suffered as a result of the constant rains. It has been more difficult to find premium quality Orri this year, and therefore, prices have shot up. This is why, this year, the Orri from Israel has gained a little ground over that from Spain in the markets to which we export," he says.

"Also, the season for mandarins such as Tango and Nadorcott ended earlier than usual, and the weather is good, so the markets are already looking forward to starting with stone fruit and watermelon," says Ignacio García.
The Valencian company will start selling the first apricots of the Cebas Red variety in the third week of April. "This is an attractive variety that is highly appreciated for its reddish skin and flavor. Production is increasing because there is increasingly more demand," says Ignacio.

"Peaches and nectarines will be slightly delayed due to the abundant rainfall. Normally, we would already be starting at this time of year, but this year, we won't have consistent volumes until the end of April. We will also be starting soon with the first cherries, grown in Alicante," he says.

"We don't sell large volumes, but prefer to supply products to those markets that are looking for premium quality and where the most important and highly valued brands compete. We are growing little by little, but in an orderly fashion. Fortunately, we have managed to build a very loyal customer base of both large and small companies," says Ignacio García.
