Cherries and blueberries have become more and more popular over the years, so much so that they have become important for international trade.
As they are sold at a significant price/kg for the chain, they need to reach the final market at the right ripeness level to please consumers. For both fruits, the firmness of the flesh is an important quality index, as most consumers prefer them to be crunchy.
TR Turoni produces a series of digital durometers that enable the simple and quick measuring of the firmness of cherry and blueberry flesh. The tool simulates the pressure of a finger on the flesh without breaking or penetrating it and shows the relevant value.
"The tool makes it possible to assess the firmness of the flesh of some types of fruit in a quick, precise, and non-invasive way. This ripeness level is a very important index to monitor, as it directly affects shelf-life," explains owner Enrico Turoni.

The main characteristic of this type of tool is the fact that it does not destroy the fruit being measured, unlike penetrometers.
"We will attend Fruit Logistica in Hall 4.2 Stand C35 to meet clients and suppliers and establish new collaborations."
