Tajikistan halts food exports

The Tajikistan COVID-19 prevention team has decided to temporarily stop export of some food products. This temporary ban on export will apply to grain, cereals, beans, flour, wheat, rice, eggs, potato and meat, starting from April 25 and continuing for an indefinite period.

According to official statistics, Tajikistan exported fruits, vegetables, melons, tea, rice, wheat and cereals for around $27 million, which is 2.3% of the country's overall exports. The country also exported sausages, other meat products, sugar, confectionery, bread, juices, alcohol, non-alcohol beverages for almost $5.1 million. This is 0.4% of the country's exports.

The country's food exports exceeded $33 million last year, this is 2.8% the country's exports.
