Memorandum of Understanding signed between ICAR-NRCB and Sastra

The ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) in Trichy and the Sastra Deemed University in Thanjavur have signed a memorandum of understanding for a joint exchange of knowledge and research infrastructures.

These institutions have agreed to exchange their ideas and expertise for developing applications in agriculture, biotechnology, nanotechnology and other fields such as sensor development for insect, pest, disease and maturity detection. They will also jointly work on pesticide spraying drones, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for banana cultivation.

The MoU will also cover the work on synthesis of composite materials from banana by-products and many more engineering devices and technologies for imparting precision agriculture in banana through technical collaboration. Sastra will enlist the students for internship and postgraduate research programs towards the benefit of the farming community.
