Recently, a cold chain truck carrying 17.28 tons of fresh Vietnamese durians successfully completed customs clearance at the Hekou Highway Port and entered the Chinese market. These were the first fresh durians imported from Vietnam into Yunnan Province under the RCEP trade rules.
The main varieties of Vietnamese durians are Ganyao, Jinzhen, and Daiyu Maoshan. They are harvested from April to the end of July every year, and the minor production period is from October to March of the following year. The harvest period is long and the annual output is more than 600,000 tons. After the RCEP entered into force officially, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China issued an announcement on July 27, 2022, allowing the import of fresh Vietnamese durians that meet the requirements from that date. This makes Vietnam the second ASEAN country to export fresh durians to China after Thailand.
Hekou County makes full use of RCEP rules to expand regional trade cooperation. The commerce and customs inspection departments actively connect to solve problems for import and export enterprises. During the process of transporting this batch of fresh durians from Vietnam’s Jincheng Port to Hekou Port, measures, such as a two-step declaration and appointments for customs clearance of fresh agricultural products, were adopted to reduce clearance time.
At present, this batch of durians has entered the imported cold chain food supervision warehouse at the Hekou port for nucleic acid testing. If the test results are negative, they will enter the imported cold chain food warehouse for sterilization before flowing into the domestic market.
Looking at the cold chain trucks entering the country smoothly, Han Tao, the buyer manager of Hekou Sutao Trading Company, said happily: "This batch of fresh durians is produced in Dak Lak Province, Vietnam, and the value of the goods is about 535,680 yuan. It takes about 2-3 days from picking the fruits at the place of origin to transporting them to Jincheng Port, Vietnam. After customs clearance at the Hekou port, Kunming will be the transit center of the goods, and the products will be sold to Jiaxing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and other places in Zhejiang.”
