Peris processes 190% more fruit in the 2022/23 season

Spain achieved an historic volume of pomegranates in this campaign

Small but definitive changes in the cultivation and management of the fruit once it has been harvested have allowed Peris to have a historic 2022-2023 national pomegranate campaign.

This season, Peris has been able to process pomegranates from the Comunitat Valenciana in its IV range division for two months longer than usual. Until the previous campaign, the nationally sourced pomegranate only arrived until December. This season, however, the company has been able to dispose of it until the end of February. As a result, Peris went from processing some 26 tons of pomegranate grown in Spain in the 2021-2022 season to 75 tons in the 2022-2023 season, i.e. 190% more.

"This has been achieved thanks to a better varietal selection and an improvement in storage processes, which have improved the harvest and allowed storing the fruits for a longer time. All of this, naturally, without losing any of the organoleptic properties of the pomegranate."

“Extending the national campaign is very important for Peris. It allows us to put a high-quality proximity product on the market for a longer period and at a competitive price, something that distributors have highly valued.”

“Peris works with pomegranates throughout the year for its IV range division, in a very careful process that at all times adapts to the ripening point of the fruit. Under this precept, the pomegranates are selected and shelled. Then the best pieces are packaged in sustainable jars."

"The pomegranate destined for the IV range is one of Peris' most consolidated products and its sales increase year after year. In fact, the company expects this product's sales to increase by 10 to 15% by 2023. This growth is driven by the fact that the shelled format makes it easier for consumers to increasingly integrate this product into their diets. In addition, consumers are more aware of the health benefits of eating these types of fruits and pomegranates are a source of vitamins K and C."
