Peru starts exporting grapes to Japan

The Peruvian Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) has reported that grape exports to Japan will start tomorrow. Vice Minister of Agrarian Development Policies and Supervision of Midagri, Segundo Regalado: “Grape exports to Japan open tomorrow, after several years of negotiations. It is a great job for the sector, especially the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa).” The Midagri official commented that Peruvian agriculture successfully weathered the pandemic and the same is expected with this emergency caused by rains and river overflows in the country.

The agricultural sector in 2022 registered a record in its gross value of production (VBP) with more than 35,000 million (soles), an advance of 4.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, he said.

The head of Senasa, Miguel Quevedo, has stated that they work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Foreign Ministry, and that ten markets are opened per year on average.
