New GS1 guideline issued for Traceability for Food to meet new US FDA regulations

A new GS1 Traceability for Food guideline has been released to assist food companies in meeting the new US FDA regulations, for export of fresh produce and dairy.

The comprehensive and user-friendly guide defines the recommendations for product and location identification, structured product descriptions and recording of common industry defined events. The additional traceability records required by the US FDA Final Rule.

"I highly recommend the new food traceability guideline for all Australian food companies, both exporters and local. It is a valuable tool that can be used to make improvements in business systems and processes for record keeping to support traceability," says Melanie Wishart, Account Director - Retail, at GS1 Australia.
