The fresh durians attracted a wide interest from the market

At the press conference, Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime Florcruz said: "With the continuous and sound development of bilateral relations between China and the Philippines, the Philippines has become China's largest import source of bananas and pineapples, and China is now the third largest export market for Philippine agricultural products. China is further opening up to Philippine durian, and I, like our Philippine durian growers, am very happy to bring you the unique taste of delicious and juicy Philippine durian."

Jaime Florcruz, Philippine Ambassador to China, and Yang Zhenyu, General Manager of Dole China addressed the audience

Runner Yang, general manager of Dole China, said: "We are full of confidence in the sales of Philippine durian in China. We believe that Dole Gold Puyat durian will soon become a new choice for domestic durian lovers, driving a new round of the durian consumption boom."

In order to enrich consumers' durian experience, Dole continues to pay attention to the development of new durian items. At the end of 2022, upon learning that fresh durians from the Philippines were about to enter China, Dole immediately sent a team to the Philippines for a field investigation. After in-depth field research and market analysis, Dole finally chose Puyat durian, which is more popular in the Philippine domestic and export markets, among more than 10 mainstream Philippine durian varieties, and launched a new product, the Dole Gold Puya durian.

Dole displayed the first batch of Dole Gold Puyat durians arriving in Hong Kong at the press conference, which was well received by the leaders present, dealer representatives, and the media.

Compared with Thailand’s Golden Pillow Durian, Dole Gold Puyat has a sweet taste and full-bodied flavor. In addition, Dole and its long-term partner Shanghai Wonong Import and Export Co., Ltd. signed an MOU on the sale of Dole Gold Puyat Durian in 2023, and the annual transaction volume is expected to reach 2,000 tons.

With the appearance of a super-large durian, the press conference ushered in the highlight - the launching ceremony of Dole Gold Puyat Durian. Jaime Florcruz, Philippine Ambassador to China, Runner Yang, general manager of Dole China, Wang Jianjun, general manager of Shanghai Wonong, and Xia Guohai, Chairman and general manager of the Shanghai Huizhan market, took the stage together. Witnessed by many parties, the surprise opening of the super-large durian was also announced: Gold Puyat was durian officially launched for sale!

Dole continues to market fresh durians, bringing consumers a "magical" durian experience
Dole Philippines Golden Puyat Durian is produced in Davao City, which is known as the "Philippines Big Fruit Basket" and "Durian City". Surrounded by mountains, Davao has a climate, with little fluctuation in precipitation, temperature, humidity, and air pressure throughout the year.

The temperature is between 20 and 32 degrees all year round, which is very conducive to the development of the durian industry. Brix levels reach 30-40 degrees after 100% ripening. What's even rarer is that the production season of Dole Golden Puyat durian is from February to April and August to October every year, which can just make up for the empty window period of Thailand's golden pillow fresh durian and provide consumers with different choices.

Dole Gold Puyat Durian, selected for China's domestic market
Dole continues to pay attention to China’s domestic consumption trends. It is reported that China is the third largest consumer of durian after Indonesia and Malaysia. In 2022, durian will rank first in the number of imported fruits in China, reaching 4.03 billion US dollars, and the import volume will reach 825,000 tons, which has nearly tripled compared to 2014.

According to customs data, from 2015 to 2022, the compound growth rate of China's fresh durian imports will reach 17%, while the annual durian output of the Philippines can reach 100,000 tons. It is estimated that by 2030, China will become the largest durian consumer.

Dole China is committed to bringing high-quality durians from different countries to domestic consumers. Previously, Dole has successfully launched a series of high-quality frozen durian products - Dole Malaysia Musang King Durian and Dole Thailand Golden Pillow Durian.

In 1963, Dole began to grow pineapples in the Philippines, officially opening Dole's business there. At present, Dole has its own orchards and packaging plants in General Santos, Davao and other places. In addition to bananas and pineapples, Dole also grows non-GMO papayas and Hass avocados in the Philippines, with a total planting area of more than 600,000 mu.
