The government of Jammu and Kashmir plans to promote the Doda district ‘Guchhi’ mushroom. Parties involved are hoping on getting geographical indication (GI) tag for the wild mushroom that grows naturally in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Considered a super-food, the Guchhi belongs to the family morchellaceae of the ascomycota. Rich in vitamins B, C, D, and K, it is probably the costliest among fungi in the world and fetches anything between ₹ 30,000 and ₹ 50,000 per kg.
