The Cherry Committee forecasts the country will produce 812,717 tons of cherry in the 2026-2027 season

ASOEX is working in China on defining strategies for the new cherry season

Last week the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile started an important Mission in Asia, in which they will visit the markets of China, India, and Japan.

The first stop was China, where ASOEX met with its agencies and team in China to define the strategy for the promotion of Chilean cherries for the next three years, with a special focus on the new fresh cherries export season because volumes are increasing, so it's important to boost consumption.

“We held several meetings with our agencies and team in China. We analyzed the lessons learned from previous campaigns and defined strategies to achieve a greater positioning of our cherries in China, South Korea, and Thailand,” stated Ivan Marambio, the president of ASOEX.

Large chains and markets
“We've met with representatives of JD.com, one of the world's leading chains, and one of the top three chains in China. They have 600 million shoppers through e-commerce. They have spectacular numbers and facilities. The headquarters we visited were one and a half million square meters big and housed 50,000 employees, out of a total of 550,000 workers. What struck me the most is that they have 30,000 workers destined to support customers who already made purchases, so they can solve any problem they might have. That's the spectacular thing about the culture here in China, its focus on the customer, ” the president of ASOEX added.

ASOEX also met with representatives of the Beijing wholesale market. “It was a very interesting visit. The scale of the Beijing market is impressive. This market sells four times more fruits than Chile. The size is huge, as is the work they do. We hope to continue growing together in the development of both the Chilean and Chinese fruit industry,” stated Iván Marambio, during the visit to the Beijing market.

It should be noted that the ASOEX team also held a meeting with the Chilean Ambassador to China and the embassy team to establish a joint effort to boost fresh fruit exports to the Chinese market.
