In the Ukrainian market, the sweet cherry season started with wholesale prices of 15–20 euros per kilogram. Small quantities of fruits were imported from Spain, Italy, and Turkey, but there was no demand, and soon the imports became almost twice as cheap. Currently, the cost of sweet cherries in Ukraine has decreased as more local produce entered the market. Sweet cherry arrivals from Moldova are expected in the coming days.
This year, just like last year, there is a shortage of high-quality Ukrainian sweet cherries. The war and adverse weather conditions are to blame for this. Unfortunately, Ukrainian sweet cherries from the occupied territories are being sold in Russian markets.
According to analysts from the project, this year's sweet cherry season in Ukraine started around the same time as last year and is expected to last at least another month.
According to the forecasts of experts, by early July, prices for sweet cherries in Ukraine may even slightly increase when the quality medium and late varieties ripen.
