400 tons of Afghan grapes are imported into Pakistan daily

From the Afghan province of Kandahar to neighbouring Pakistan, up to 400 tons of grapes are exported per day. The fruit is transported in refrigerated trucks through the “Spin Boldak” border crossing.

Afghan exporters are requesting faster clearance of their goods at the customs checkpoint to prevent spoilage of the grapes. Local farmers assure that the grapes are of high quality.

According to local officials, approximately 20 refrigerated trucks are loaded with grapes and sent to Pakistan every day. However, some traders in Kandahar complain that the trucks carrying grapes are still being inspected despite a previous agreement, and this inspection process takes a lot of time.

Last year, 250,000 tons of fresh fruits were exported from Kandahar. Afghan officials believe that this year's export volume will increase due to a higher fruit harvest.
