Philippines to ship first mango exports to Australia in early September

Authorities finalized the maiden shipment of Philippine mangoes to Australia in early September this year. DAFF assistant secretary David Ironside said in an approval letter that Australia was looking forward to receiving high-quality mango fruit from the Philippines.

The shipment is to be properly packed and loaded into a flight to Perth and Sydney, to arrive first week of September. The Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Sydney collaborated with the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Plant Industry-National Plant Quarantine Services Division for the delivery of the maiden mango shipment.

Protocols have been in place since 2016 for the export of mangoes to Australia such as the specific commodity understanding. The SCU is an arrangement document for the importation of fresh mango fruit from the Philippines to Australia under Australia’s Biosecurity Act 2015.
