A successful International Fruit Expo was completed in Guangzhou over the weekend. The show took place from September 1 to 3. It is jointly hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce For Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce, and Animal By-Products (CFNA) together with the China Fruit Marketing Association (CFMA).

The Chinese fresh fruit market has developed rapidly in recent years, and it is becoming an important and integral part of the international fresh fruit trade. The aim of the exhibition is to link the international 'World Fruit' market with the Chinese domestic market and to present the Chinese fruit industry to an international audience.

Both goals were achieved successfully. The show was professionally organized, and different national and international brands and products were beautifully on display.
In addition to the trade show, a number of other activities were offered to the participants, including market seminars, technical exchanges, and brand promotion. The organization also hosted a trip to the Guangzhou fruit wholesale market. Exhibiting companies used their presence at the exhibition as an opportunity to publicly sign and announce strategic cooperations and new developments, enhancing the relevance of the exhibition.
International visitors and participants were present, including from countries like Chile, Peru, Israel, Egypt, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain, France, Italy, and the USA. On the whole, international participation is likely to grow in the coming years.
A number of domestic fruit brands and regions of origin were on display, including a Shaanxi pavilion exhibiting the region's fresh apples and a Guanxi pavilion with tropical fruits. That said, the majority of exhibitors participating were import, trade, and distribution companies. All part of linking the Chinese market to the rest of the world.
In addition to growers and shippers, a number of service and technology providers were present, including a range of sorting-line technologies, post-harvest solution providers, packaging producers, and logistics service providers.

The exhibition provided a pleasant experience for visitors, with the halls laid out clearly, colorful displays, and many fresh fruits, brands, and supportive products and services on display.
There is room to develop the show in future years and increase the number of international participants. That said, as one of the first international exhibitions in China since the Covid-19 pandemic ended, it has given the post-Covid era a strong start.
