Residents of the Russian Far East face different food-related challenges. The region's harsh climate and low population density affect agriculture. Experts note that the supply of products is a difficult task. The movement of goods to the Far East of Russia, including high-quality fruits, vegetables, and berries, is carried out in an emergency manner. As a result, food prices in this region are significantly higher than in other parts of the country.
A study conducted in August 2023 revealed that 14% of the residents of the Russian Far East face a shortage of high-quality fruits, vegetables, and berries. The transportation of these products over long distances and through complex logistical conditions often results in spoilage.
While Chinese products can be found on the market in the Russian Far East, their selection is limited, and many residents of the region prefer Russian products familiar to local consumers.
