Week 44 Fruit Wholesale Market Report

Domestic citrus is in good demand, and limited volumes of Yunnan blueberries are on sale

This week, limited volumes of Chilean cherries continue to arrive, including early-ripening varieties such as Brooks and Glen Red. They are available in different sizes, with 3J accounting for a relatively large proportion. The number of arrivals in each batch is about two hundred pieces. Since the overall quantity is not large, most of them have been pre-ordered and sold out upon arrival. The current price is still relatively high, with a box of 2.5KG 3J cherries selling for about ¥800/piece. Because the arrival of cherries is small and scattered, the market is not yet fully ready.

Peruvian blueberries are generally priced at ¥150-¥160/piece, and the market price and sales have not changed much from last week. Some merchants said that certain brands and varieties are currently selling well, and Magica, the sweet variety is still more popular. The prices of these brands and varieties are slightly higher, but customers recognize the brand and the sales are relatively smooth.

In addition, a small amount of Yunnan blueberries have been put on the market. It is understood that in previous years, some brands of Yunnan blueberries began to be put on the market at the end of November. This year, they were put on the market earlier and the price is close to that of Peruvian blueberries. Some merchants estimate that due to the weak export of Peruvian blueberries this year, there will be less volume but higher prices, Yunnan blueberries are taking advantage of this window period to go on the market to gain market share.

Recently, the arrival volume of imported durians has been small, because the production season of Thai Monthong has ended, the Vietnamese Monthong has been at the end of the production season with limited arrivals and Vietnamese Kanyao is also having less volume. Fewer products lead to higher prices. The Vietnamese Monthong A-class fruit sells for about ¥900/piece. The low quantity of fresh durian fruits coincides with the sales period of liquid-nitrogen-preserved durians. Some merchants took advantage of this period to promote Musang King from Malaysia. According to merchants, sales of Musang King have been relatively slow recently.

The domestic dragon fruit production season ended at the end of October. Since domestically produced fruits are mostly red flesh, the supply of Vietnamese red-flesh dragon fruits has improved and the price has increased slightly. Vietnamese white-flesh dragon fruit remained stable. It is understood that the arrival of Vietnamese red-flesh dragon fruit has been relatively low recently.

Plums imported from the United States (Eagle Egg on the left)

Most of the imported stone fruits on sale are Spanish plums and American Eagle Egg plumcots. According to merchants, the American plum season is at the end of the season, and Eagle Egg plumcots are the last variety to be sold this season.

Domestic oranges (left: Sichuan Ehime oranges; right: Yunnan oranges)

Currently, the fruit market is experiencing varying sales rates. Domestic citrus fruits, like Yunnan oranges and Sichuan Ehime oranges, are selling well. Oranges, in particular, are in the early stages of their market presence. While some varieties may not have reached their desired level of sweetness, they remain fresh and moist. Prices are also relatively stable, contributing to steady sales.
