Papua New Guinea ready to export galip nuts across the world

The government of Papua New has set out to commercialize local indigenous products, and the galip nut has now been recommend for export across the world. Secretary for Agriculture, Dr Sergie Beng, was one of the pioneer scientists who did expounded research on the galip nut during his time at the National Agriculture Research Institute. He is quite happy that there is now a focus on the commercialization of the nut.

Also, the Fresh Produce Development Agency under the Market for Village Farmers (MVF) have signed a funding agreement to support a galip nut project. The FPDA signed the deal with Frangipani Foods Ltd of Rabaul and SOJONA Integrated and Sustainable Agriculture Livelihood (SISAL) of Madang to see the project through. Chief Executive Officer for the Fresh Produce Development Agency. Mark Worinu when officiating at the signing of the financial agreement with the two lead farmers said Galip nut can be an alternate cash produce for the lowland people of PNG.
