Tajikistan is set to join the "Agroexpress," a Russian specialized service aiming to expedite the delivery of perishable goods and mitigate risks affecting their quality.
The Tajik Ministry of Transport revealed that the possibility of connecting to Agroexpress was outlined in the 2023-2025 roadmap signed by Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, and Russia's V. Saveliev during their meeting in Moscow.
The move is expected to accelerate the delivery of perishable products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, to China, Central Asian countries, and beyond. The Agroexpress project, operated by Russian Railways and the Russian Export Center, currently facilitates swift transportation, taking 5–7 days. Tajikistan sees this as an opportunity to export its fruit and vegetable products, comprising approximately 14% of its total exports to Russia, according to customs statistics.
The Agroexpress initiative has already expanded to Eurasian Economic Union countries, involving logistics companies and agro-industrial terminals from Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Presently, Agroexpress is considering two routes—one via Kazakhstan and the other through Uzbekistan.
