Buyers are still concerned about quality

First "Cherry Express" of this season, the Cautín, arrived in Hong Kong

The first "Cherry Express" of this season, the Cautín, arrived in Hong Kong on the evening of December 10, carrying about a hundred containers of Chilean cherries. Containers began to arrive at the wholesale market one after another on the morning of December 11. On the first day of launching, a large number of fruit traders came, and the scene was very lively.

Most of the varieties arriving on this ship are Santina, and the proportion of Royal Dawn is smaller than before. Due to the higher price of cherries shipped by air in the early stage, more Royal Dawn will be transported by air this season, and the proportion of sea freight will decrease. Compared with air freight, which has larger fruits, the size proportion of sea freight is more even, and black fruits account for the majority. It is understood that about 60-70 containers on board are shipped to Guangzhou Jiangnonghui Fruit Wholesale Market, and at least 30 containers are sent to other regional markets.

"The overall quality of this batch of sea freight is close to that of recent air freight. The quality of air freight has improved in the past two weeks, but overall it is inferior to the first batch of sea freight last year, and the firmness of some arrivals is average. The quality of some big brands is relatively stable. The price is ¥20-30/piece more expensive than sea freight in the same period last year, and high-quality products will be dozens of yuan more expensive. Due to the previous high price of air cargo, the price of this batch of sea freight has been slightly lower than market expectations."

"After the arrival of sea freight, the price of air freight has dropped. Different brands and qualities have different declines. But at present, sea freight mainly affects the volume of air freight, and the impact on prices is not great for the time being."

"Compared with last year, the current sales of seaborne products are slow. Depending on the market response, each company may not start to sell immediately. On the first day of opening the containers, more people came to wait and see and learn about the market. Many merchants are still in a wait-and-see mode. Some want to wait until the price is lower, and some continue to choose air-freight cherries. This year, many merchants have reduced the amount they purchase, and are more cautious in purchasing. In addition, last year, more channel dealers did pre-sales, so the booking volume was large and after the products arrived, the sales were quick. The number of channel dealers doing pre-sales this year has been greatly reduced, and the low number of reservations has also affected the sales."

According to reports, currently, buyers are still most concerned about quality. In terms of specifications, small fruits are currently selling well because of their relatively stable quality and high cost performance.
