In a significant move to bolster economic ties, Morocco and Mauritania have seen their trade exchanges soar to $300 million (MAD 3 billion) by the end of 2022, marking a remarkable 58% uptick from 2020 figures.
This surge is attributed to the concerted efforts under the Mauritania-Morocco Economic Forum, which aims to expedite the partnership dynamics between the two neighboring nations. A pivotal element in this endeavor is the establishment of a task force by the CGEM and the UNPM, tasked with the facilitation and oversight of investment projects between the countries.
Hamid Chabar, the Moroccan ambassador to Mauritania, highlighted that the trade volume's substantial growth, with fruits and vegetables constituting 23% of the trade exchanges, underscores the burgeoning economic synergy between Morocco and Mauritania.
