Nut imports to Siberia have surged fourfold

Indonesian palm fruits have found favour in Siberia. In 2023, the region imported 1200 tons of coconuts. According to the Siberian Customs Administration, the total nut imports surged by 4.1 times to reach 2300 tons.

Nuts in shells were also sourced from Kazakhstan, Chile, Turkey, and Vietnam. The highest imports were pistachios, totalling almost 378 tons, followed by almonds at 218.5 tons, walnuts at 180 tons, and pecans at 71.2 tons. Turkey and Kyrgyzstan joined the list of exporters for the first time.

The top demand came from entrepreneurs in the Novosibirsk region (over 1000 tons), Altai Krai (662.5 tons), and Tomsk region (468.2 tons).
