Interest shifts from agriculture to the oil industry in the Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan

During a recent visit to the Mangystau region, local entrepreneur Almagul Karasaeva highlighted a concerning trend to Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik ZhumaÇľarin. She pointed out that despite a significant number of unemployed individuals, there's a reluctance to work in agriculture, with many preferring employment in the oil industry. Karasaeva lamented the situation, citing difficulties filling vacancies in agricultural roles despite efforts to advertise them through the employment center.

This sentiment was echoed by the regional governor, who noted that local youth increasingly opt for oil-related courses in universities, showing little interest in agricultural careers elsewhere.
