Priamurye welcomed its first shipment of sugar apples from China for the year 2024. Over 110 kilograms of this exotic fruit arrived in the Amur region through the Kanikurgan checkpoint on February 25th. Now, local grocery store shelves are adorned with this unique produce.
According to the authorities at the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance for the Amur Region and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), no violations were found during the inspection, ensuring that all imported produce meets the necessary standards for entry into the country.
Sugar apples, also known as custard apples, resemble regular apples in appearance, hence the name. They boast a light green to yellowish colour with spherical, fleshy protrusions. The flesh is white, and sweet, with a slight tanginess, often likened to a sweet custard cream. Inside, numerous elongated brown inedible seeds are present. These fruits are rich in essential amino acids, vitamins B1, B2, and C.
The import and expansion of an assortment of fruit and vegetable produce from China into the region continue, with approximately, 4200 tons of various fruits imported into Priamurye from January 1st to February 26th.
