Yu Huiyong, chairman of Pagoda, highlighted the procurement of over 220,000 tons of Thai fruits, through collaboration with several orchards and packaging plants in Thailand. The company also engages with government bodies to foster the growth of Thailand's fruit industry across the supply chain. Pagoda employs a unique fruit grading system, categorizing fruits into four levels, to ensure selection of only high-quality fruits from significant global production areas, emphasizing natural ripening and peak flavor timing. Additionally, Pagoda conducts over 200 safety tests to guarantee the fruits' safety and quality.
The Thai Fruit Festival 2024, a collaborative effort between the Department of Agriculture, the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, and Pagoda, aims to showcase Thai fruit standards and expand their presence in China through Pagoda's network of over 6,000 retail outlets. The event, scheduled from May 8 to 14 in China, will also feature visits by Chinese media and influencers to Thai orchards and packaging facilities in Chanthaburi province.
Thailand, which currently exports 22 types of fruit to China, seeks to increase this number, following a year when fruit exports to China comprised 90% of its total fruit exports, reaching a value of US$7.056 billion, an 11.9% increase from the previous year, with durian exports alone accounting for $4.566 billion, an 18% increase.
