Kyrgyzstan Ministry advises growers on onion storage

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan has issued guidance to local farmers regarding the storage of the current year's onion crop. This recommendation comes in response to a recent downturn in onion prices across some Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries and neighboring regions. The ministry's press service relayed this information, highlighting the significant price drops observed.

"For example, the price of onions is at its lowest level in the neighboring countries. Due to the lack of a sales market, the vegetable is distributed to the population for free. One of the reasons is that onions are grown in excess in these countries, which reduces the demand for the product," stated the Ministry of Agriculture. In response to these market fluctuations, a coordination council has been established by the ministry aimed at maintaining stable prices for agricultural products and offering support to farmers.
