Bac Giang lychees enter Thai market for the second consecutive year

Lychees from Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province, Vietnam, are being distributed in Thailand through Gourmet Market and The Mall Group's shopping malls for the second consecutive year. The fruit's presence in Bangkok's major supermarkets highlights the ongoing cross-border trade between Vietnam and Thailand. Ekthai, the importing entity, expressed a preference for Vietnamese lychees due to their superior taste, despite a decrease in this year's lychee output. Contracts established with farmers the previous year have enabled the continuation of supply to meet Thai consumer demand.

Even with higher import costs, the retail price remains unchanged to ensure customer access to the product. The lychees have garnered attention from both Thai customers and international visitors, indicating a growing interest in Vietnamese produce abroad.

A promotional campaign, "The best lychees from Vietnam," spearheaded by Gourmet Market and the Mam Initiative, aims to further elevate the fruit's profile in Thailand. This initiative includes innovative marketing strategies such as hand-drawn advertisements and digital stickers, enhancing engagement with Thai consumers. The campaign, running from June 15 to the end of July, aligns with the weekly importation schedule, ensuring fresh lychees are available throughout Bangkok.
