Australian farming business HS Fresh Food enters voluntary administration

Australian agribusiness HS Fresh Food, known for its fresh salads, ready-made meals, and pre-prepared vegetable products, has entered into voluntary administration, impacting around 500 jobs. The company, which operates under brands such as Houston's Farm, Sunfresh, and Gourmet Selections, and supplies to major retailers like Coles and Woolworths, appointed FTI Consulting administrators Vaughan Strawbridge, Joanne Dunn, and Ben Campbell on June 14 to lead the restructuring efforts. Despite the administration, operations will persist, aiming to secure the company's future either through restructuring or sale, thereby retaining positions for the workforce during this period.

"We are working with HS Fresh Food Group's management team and staff, and other stakeholders to continue operations while we secure the future of the business," stated Mr Strawbridge. He further added, "A sale process for the business and assets of the HS Fresh Food Group was undertaken and in advanced stages at the time our appointment. We intend to continue this process, while exploring all available options, and are confident of completing a sale and/or recapitalisation of the business in an expedited time frame with the support of all relevant stakeholders." Originating in Tasmania as Houston's Farms, HS Fresh Food has expanded its operations across New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and Western Australia.
