Still, prices have remained consistent with previous year

Durian availability in Singapore been impacted by a 20% reduction in supply this season

The availability of durians in Singapore this season has been impacted by a 20% reduction in supply, attributed to wet weather conditions. Despite this, prices have remained consistent with the previous year. Durian vendors in Singapore have reassured that the supply of this sought-after fruit will not be affected by China's increased importation from Malaysia. The peak season for durians in Malaysia, which typically spans from May to August, has seen a delay due to unpredictable weather patterns, causing concerns among exporters about the potential impact on both the volume and quality of the harvest.

Ah Loon, the proprietor of 227 Katong Durian, noted the erratic nature of this year's supply, with significant fluctuations being a common theme. Despite these challenges, durian sellers along Geylang Road have reported robust sales, with the Musang King variety continuing to be a favorite among consumers. The price for Musang King remains unchanged from last year, with its unique flavor profile being highly prized by durian enthusiasts. Other varieties like Red Prawn, Black Thorn, and Golden Phoenix are also seeing increased consumer spending.
