Armenia sees 20% increase in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables in 2024

At the Lars checkpoint, currently, there are no issues affecting the passage of Armenian trucks, as confirmed by Arman Khojoyan, Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia, during a press conference. He addressed the potential impact of logistical disruptions on supply chains, emphasizing the duration of such issues as a determinant for the export volumes and logistics organization.

Khojoyan highlighted a 20% increase in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables in 2024 compared to the previous year, attributing this growth to the primary export market in Russia.

To enhance the export diversification of fresh produce, Khojoyan pointed out the necessity for more comprehensive steps. He reported on the Ministry of Economy's efforts in developing a new logistics support project and identified the lack of Global GAP certification among Armenian farmers as a primary challenge. To address this, the government has initiated a program to promote the development of intensive orchards, aiming to establish 1,000 hectares annually. Under a preferential lending program, 7,200 hectares of orchards are in stages of readiness or establishment, marking a significant stride towards improving Armenia's agricultural exports.
