First container of plantains exported from Guatemala

One Banana announced the successful export of its first container of plantains, marking a significant expansion of its product portfolio to meet the diverse needs of its retail clients. This milestone is part of a broader initiative that includes a new plantain farm along the Pacific coast of Guatemala.

This new operation spans approximately 70 hectares and includes a plantain packing plant, ensuring quality, control, and efficiency from cultivation to distribution. The initial shipment included 840 boxes of plantains, with ambitious plans to expand to six containers per week by the end of March 2025.

"Expanding our product portfolio is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver high-quality fresh fruits and promote sustainable growth. With this expansion, we strengthen our position as a leader in the industry," said Ingrid López, logistics director at One Banana.

Shipping began in the first semester of the year. At full capacity, One Banana anticipates supporting five to seven containers per week, providing customers with a consistent and reliable supply of fresh plantains. This venture further reinforces the company's position as a diversified and vertically integrated company, offering conventional and organic bananas, natural ingredients, and now plantains, all sourced from its sustainable and certified farms in Guatemala, Ecuador, and Peru.

In addition to expanding its product offerings, One Banana recently launched its Sustainability Strategy, PlanetA. This forward-thinking strategy aims to make tangible differences and set new standards for a sustainable food system. The strategy includes time-bound targets with specific and measurable goals for sustainable operations, integrating profitability and sustainability.

"We are committed to nourishing the world with food that is good for both people and the planet," said Rob Adams, president of One Banana. "We continuously strive to enhance our offerings and provide our customers with better food. Now we are thrilled to expand our offerings to include sustainable high-quality plantains, cultivated in a socially and environmentally responsible manner."
