Vietnam's agricultural exports to South Korea experienced a 55% increase in the first half of 2024, reaching a total of US$164 million. This growth is attributed to the rising demand among South Korean consumers for Vietnamese agricultural products.
Jeong Joon Kyu, CEO of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency in HCMC, highlighted the appeal of Vietnamese products in South Korea, noting, "Many Vietnamese agricultural products are favoured by South Korean consumers due to their quality and competitive prices." This statement was made during the 2024 Vietnam-Korea Plus Partnership Week.
Specifically, coffee and pepper exports from Vietnam to South Korea showed remarkable increases, with coffee up by 39% to $75.6 million and pepper by 147% to $19.8 million. According to Dang Phuc Nguyen, general secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, South Korea has emerged as the second-largest market for Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, with mango, longan, dragon fruit, banana, pineapple, and durian leading the exports.
