Asda expands partnership with Scottish cherry grower

Asda has collaborated with Peter Marshall & Co, a Scottish grower, to supply over 3.5 million Scottish cherries during summer. This agreement marks an extension of a five-year collaboration between Asda and Marshall Farms via Scotty Brand, broadening the scope from branded products to encompass own-label fresh fruits and securing an annual provision of three million cherries.

The Scottish cherries, cultivated on the family-run farm in Alyth by Rowan and Jennifer Marshall alongside Rowan's parents, Meg and Pete, will be distributed in approximately 160 Asda stores across the UK from July. The Marshall family, with a heritage of farming dating back to the 1930s, manages around 1,300 acres of land.

Highlighting the unique growing conditions in Scotland, Jennifer Marshall stated, "Cherries are amazing in Scotland because of the long light hours and cooler climate." She further detailed the farm's commitment to utilizing superior growing techniques and a variety of cherry types to extend the supply season for Asda.

Rowan Marshall expressed pride in leading the Scottish cherry production, emphasizing the high quality of their produce. Ashley Connolly, Scottish buying manager at Asda, commented on the partnership's significance in bolstering Scottish agriculture and delivering premium local produce to Asda customers.
