BiteRiot grows between 1200-1500 tonnes of cherries per year in central western New South Wales, Australia, from Mudgee, Nashdale and Orange. Across approximately 150 hectares.
"We export fresh cherries to various Asian markets and the Middle East. Our main markets include Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and China," explains Ben Harris who is in charge of Juice Sales at the company.
"Between 10 - 30% of our crop goes into producing our BiteRiot cherry juice. We use only the waste/unmarketable cherries for juicing, ensuring our farms and growers are much more sustainable."
The juicing is highly time-critical, requiring the fruit to be juiced, pasteurised and bottled during the heaviest harvest period to ensure the best tasting product using the freshest fruit.
"Cherry juice has many remedial benefits including as a sleep aid, joint-pain relief including gout and arthritis, for post workout recovery, and has been shown to assist better brain function," said Ben.
BiteRiot cherry juice has a 24-month shelf life from the time of production. BiteRiot also exports the cherry juice, with 30% sold for export. It can be found in several Asian markets.
