In July 2024, Kyrgyzstan increased its import of apples from China by 3.2 times compared to the same month in the previous year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China. A total of 651 tons of apples were imported during this month.
The average price of Chinese apples was $1.4 per kilogram, nearly one-third higher than the price level in July last year.
Among all the fruits imported from China, apple imports ranked seventh in weight. The largest share of fruit imports consisted of fresh peaches, lemons, limes, pears, and grapes. Overall, 20 types of fruits and nuts were imported from China in July 2024.
Kyrgyzstan also saw a significant increase in vegetable imports from China, with a ninefold rise in July 2024 compared to July of the previous year, totalling 3,300 tons imported.
The import value of Chinese vegetables in dollar terms increased tenfold, reaching $4 million. The most popular vegetables from China were peppers and garlic, broccoli, tomatoes, and celery. In total, 27 types of vegetables were imported from China.
