Javier Nedal, manager of Beyond Field: "This year, we will also start with zucchini and baby eggplant"

"Thanks to our partners in South Africa, we can offer our baby vegetable range all year round"

Baby vegetables offer freshness and a diversity of colors, shapes and tastes in an attractive mini size that is highly appreciated by consumers and the hospitality and catering sector. "For us, in fact, they are one of our flagship products," says Javier Nedal, manager of Beyond Field. "Under our brand La Joya de la Corona we sell a whole range of baby vegetables that we grow on our own farms in Seville."

"We produce rainbow carrots in orange, yellow and purple, which we sell in mixtures or separately, depending on the customer's needs. We also produce baby leeks, baby beetroot and baby fennel, and among the new products we want to introduce in our range this year, baby zucchini and eggplant stand out the most."

"One of the strengths of this line of mini vegetables is that we can supply the whole range all year round, combining the off-season production with that of our South African partner Yukon International, which is also specialized in baby vegetable cultivation and has a wide range of products of the same high quality as the ones we sell in La Joya de la Corona," says Javier.

"It is a niche market with a very interesting demand both in the retail and the hospitality and catering channels in Europe, where we have annual programs with various supermarket chains, and even in the Middle East, where we send shipments by air."

"We are waiting for the first Queen Selection volumes of the season to arrive"
La Joya de la Corona's baby vegetables are just as outstanding as its Queen Selection mandarin. "This quality seal was created to identify the Queen mandarins grown by La Joya de la Corona, and it serves as a guarantee of the quality and flavor parameters that characterize them."

"Queen Selection mandarins have a very attractive reddish color and a characteristic flattened shape. They are easy peelers and seedless, two features that are highly appreciated by the market and by consumers, and their taste strikes a perfect balance between sweet and sour, even at the end of the season, when other premium varieties start failing at it. Its sugar levels stay always above 12 degrees Brix."

"Another of their distinctive features is their juiciness, as they contain between 47 and 52% juice, as well as their size, usually between 1X and 2X."

"Their season usually starts around January 10-15 and ends around mid-March, although just as with baby vegetables, we also have off-season production in South Africa, so we can supply the market with Queen Selection mandarins also from September to November. In fact, we are currently waiting for the first volumes of the season to arrive."

Fruit Attraction 2024
Beyond Field and its brand La Joya de la Corona will be present at Fruit Attraction, at stand 9F00A. "This year, in Madrid, we will be focusing on our baby vegetables. It's very exciting to be working in this segment, because there are not that many companies doing as great a job with baby vegetables as we do. Our aim is to provide the best service to our clients, which is why we offer the possibility of delivering mixed pallets with our high-value products (in addition to baby vegetables and Queen Selection mandarins, we grow finger limes, passion fruit and other vegetables), and we are open to doing field programs for any clients who request them."
