On 09/09/2024, Direct Fresh Sourcing GmbH received an award and thanks in recognition of its direct purchase of Fairtrade bananas as part of a house handover ceremony organised by the "CORNELIO SÁNCHEZ Association of Agricultural Employees and Workers".
In a festive ceremony, the association thanked Direct Fresh Sourcing GmbH for its strong commitment to social justice and sustainable practices. "The award emphasises the responsibility that the Hamburg-based company assumes towards producers and the environment. By purchasing Fairtrade products directly, Direct Fresh Sourcing GmbH not only supports the living conditions of farmers, but also promotes a fairer trading structure based on transparency and fairness," reports the company.
Direct Fresh Sourcing GmbH's initiative shows how companies can actively contribute to creating a more sustainable world. The association "Cornelio Sánchez" emphasised that such commitments are crucial to overcoming the challenges in agriculture and improving the quality of life of workers. The association holds regular meetings to discuss what projects are supported with the money received through Fairtrade.
The owner of three Fairtrade farms from which the association was founded, Jose Luis Sanchez Honores, has set himself the task of building a total of eight new houses for employees per year through further financial support in cooperation with the association to create a better quality of life for the workers on the farms.
