Employees at a discount supermarket chain located in Germany uncovered a total of 95 kilograms of cocaine hidden within crates of bananas, according to police statements. This discovery, made across several stores within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is estimated to hold a street value of approximately €7 million.
The initial find occurred in Mönchengladbach, with subsequent discoveries in Duisburg, Krefeld, Viersen, Heinsberg, and Neuss. Authorities are investigating, but it is believed that the shipment, originating from South America, was mistakenly delivered to the supermarket after arriving in Europe via the port of Antwerp. The Mönchengladbach police suggested that the supermarket was not the intended recipient of the cocaine-laden delivery.
