Colombian agricultural product prices fluctuated in August

In Colombia, the Unidad de Planificación Rural Agropecuaria (UPRA) issued its latest Wholesale Price Bulletin, revealing varied price movements for agricultural products in August. Vegetables experienced a downturn in prices. In contrast, fresh fruits such as mangoes, avocados, Tahiti limes, mandarins, grapes, papayas, and pineapples witnessed price increases.

Specifically, white and red onions, bell peppers, green peas, and green beans saw their prices decrease by more than 20%. Potato prices dropped by 10%, marking a shift from previous months' upward trends. On the other hand, fresh fruit categories recorded over 10% price hikes.

Dora Inés Rey, Director of UPRA, emphasized the value of monitoring wholesale markets for insights into factors affecting Colombian households. The report also highlighted price movements in the vegetable and tuber segment, with carrots, green beans, and corn prices dropping, whereas cucumbers, beets, and scallions saw hikes. Fresh fruits like Castilian blackberries, tree tomatoes, and lulo experienced price reductions, illustrating the complex dynamics of Colombia's agricultural market.
